Client Overview

Activation Products were looking to enhance their Shopify store by incorporating a dynamic podcast directory. They required a solution that would allow them to easily manage and display podcast episodes without needing to update a static directory.

Project Objectives

Develop a custom podcast template within the existing Shopify store.
Enable the client to dynamically input podcast information, including episode details, sponsor information, and contact information.
Allow the categorization of posts as either standard blog posts or podcasts.

Implementation Steps

Theme Cloning: Cloned the existing Shopify theme to ensure the new podcast template would maintain the site’s overall look and feel.
Template Creation: Developed a new podcast template and added a dedicated podcast section within the Liquid code.
Metadata Updates: Create new metadata to allow the client to input essential information about each podcast episode, including: episode title, description, excerpts, sponsor details, how to connect to guest, how to connect to speaker
Dynamic Functionality: Ensured that each time a new podcast episode is added, the client can easily input the necessary information without manual adjustments to
the template.
User Interface: Enhanced the blog post creation interface so the client can select whether to create a standard blog post or categorize it as a podcast, with additional
fields available for podcast-specific information.

Outcome

The client has a user-friendly system for managing their podcast content, allowing for easy updates and engagement with their audience. The solution provides flexibility and scalability as the podcast grows, ensuring a seamless integration within their Shopify store.

Conclusion

This project not only met the client’s immediate needs but also established a foundation for future podcast episodes, enhancing their online presence and engagement with listeners.
